The Highlights
Main Interests
- Choy Lay Fut Kung Fu
I've been interested in Kung Fu all my life and have been training with my Sifu, Tat Mau Wong, since 1990. I'm now currently a black belt and teach at my Sifu's school on Saturdays.
- Chinese Music and movies
I haven't liked much "domestic" music since the late 80's early 90's. I've always listened to Chinese music but really got into it after high school. Chinese movies I've always loved, especially Kung Fu movies.
- Anime/AnimeExpo
Japanese Animation. I've been into this since I was little. When my American born friends were watching Sesame Street, I was watching Mazinger, Kamen Rider, Ultraman, etc. Maybe that's part of the reason I turned out like this. Anime Expo is a convention devoted to Japanese Animation and it's related subjects. I got involved in it mainly because my friends started it.
- Science Fiction/Fantasy
Everyone loves science fiction. My favorite movies are, of course, Star Wars. I also love science fiction and fantasy books. I'm caught up with the Robert Jordan Wheel of Time series and I'm passing time with the Mercedes Lackey Mage Winds series.
- Hanging out with friends
I love hanging out with my friends.
- Computers and Electronics
This includes PC, workstations, UNIX, and hanging out on the internet (usually I can be found on the #Anime! irc channel). I like video games as much as the next person but I tend to get beaten by certian friends all the time. I'm very seriosuly considering getting a playstation but I probably won't get anything useful done if I do.
Short bio of myself
I was born Richard Tse-Woon Paw on March 12, 1971 in Singapore. That makes me a Pisces born in the Year of the Metal Boar. I'm of Fukien(Hokien) decent, which probably doesn't mean much to you unless you're familiar with Chinese provinces. I spent the first few years of my life in Singapore then later Thailand. I moved to the US in 1977 and immediately settled in San Francisco.
I really didn't like the school I attended the first eigth years so nuf said. After that I attended Lowell High School again in SF. I made quite a few life long friends there. After that was UC Berkeley and the EECS (Electrical Engineering and Computer Science) department where I got my BS.
Currently, I'm working for Actel. It's an FPGA company so if you're not an electrical engineer you probably never heard of the company or even know what the product is.
